EW review: "What do you give the grease monkey who has everything (besides soap)? The answer may very well lie within CarParts' mammoth 1.5 million-item inventory, which ranges from the indispensable (oil filters, alternators) to the egregious (spoilers, aero wings). The menu-driven search tool matches your auto's make and model with the proper parts, so no fumbling with serial numbers. For the thrifty, used parts are available at a discount. And if you can't find your tailpipe with both hands, e-mail a query to the in-house specialists or chat with them live--just don't get the wrong idea when the talk turns to European models and Asian imports." "The largest car parts and accessories retailer on the Web, CarParts is a truly excellent site. Everything is easy to find, browsing is simple and there are even parts for older cars like MGs and Studebakers" (Forbes--click here for full review) |

Autoliterature EW review: "Did you love the twist ending of the 1964 Buick Owner's Manual? Then self-described "canuck car nut" Conrad Audet is your man. His slick automotive bookstore, home to beaucoup titles and heavy on the technical lit (we're talking Chilton manuals), is easy to browse using the keyword-driven search tool. Yanks benefit from the exchange rate (prices are listed in Canadian dollars). Be sure to make a pit stop at Conrad's Corner, where the former drag racer battles automotive ignorance on a semi-regular basis." |

Car Talk Shameless
Commerce EW review: "Don't let that "org" fool you: Click and Clack (a.k.a. Tom and Ray Magliozzi, hosts of National Public Radio's Car Talk) are shrewd capitalists. Their site hawks promotional gear, audio compilations (e.g., the classic CD Men Are From GM, Women Are From Ford, $15.95), and other sundries. There's even the truly useful (if pricey, at $149) Roadside Survival Kit, which includes top-notch jumper cables, safety glasses, vice grips, and--if your delivery is delayed--fuzzy dice." |

Pumpin Ethyl EW review: "Relax, e-prudes. This boutique is indeed an ode to lube, but the garage-kept petroliana sold here has been dry for decades. Selections include vintage pumps, cans, classic signs, and a fleet of model tanker trucks (courtesy of parent company Truck Toyz). Prices recall the oil crisis--pumps can range from $175 to $1,500--but isn't that a bargain for re-creating Route 66 in your den? |
